Google mobile rumours stirring again
I’ve managed so far to stay away from the rumours surrounding Google’s plans to build a Gphone. Mainly because this doesn’t fit right with me. At a time when, even the world’s biggest handset maker Nokia is moving their focus to mobile services with the acquisition of Navteq – Google building handsets seem a crazy […]
Matt Cutts confirming Google’s attack on Link sellers
Yesterday, Google’s Matt Cutts confirmed in an interview with Search Engine Journal that the recent PageRank downgrades were intended to tackle sites selling links.
The partial update to visible PageRank that went out a few days ago was primarily regarding PageRank selling and the forward links of sites. So paid links that pass PageRank would affect […]
The Times Online and the Hilton.co.uk lose PageRank in the update
The times online and The New Scientist have their TBPR drop from 7 to 5 and the Hilton.co.uk from 7 to 3.
In the case of the Hilton, they’ve also lost that ranking for ‘hotels’. Someone in the office just pointed out the cross linking footer which link to the group sites – this may […]
Latest on the October 2007 Google update
It’s been a couple of days since the reported PR drops for sites selling links, and judging by some of the reports, we haven’t seen any traffic drops for the sites that have dropped PageRank. Personalised search, privacy and user personas
One of the main issues around personalised search is privacy. Like when someone constantly finishes your sentence, because they think they know you so well (annoying? I know! I do it […]
Blinkx joins the Google YouTube ad-supported video model
Blinkx follows Google and releases a new ad-platform which allows publishers to earn a revenue share through placing videos on their web pages.
Ad-supported YouTube Videos – a win win for everyone?
The recent Google move to extend the AdSense model to YouTube Videos seems obvious, but you must admit – it’s a neat solution.
Similar to Adsense (contextual advertising) – A publisher can have videos from youTube embedded on their site with ads placed above and below the video.
The Publisher can chose to have content from […]
McDonalds to provide free Wifi in UK restaurants
McDonalds joins the free WiFi bandwagon in an effort to lure more upmarket customers. I know what you’re thinking – how is this going to make me eat their burgers? Fear not – healthy food options and designer furniture also on its way.
Think a coffee and the free Wifi code for me please!
