Fred Killeen says Web2.0 Collaboration will help GM

Fred Killeen CTO of General Motors, in an interview for Computer Week outlines the importance of technology used in Social Media media for business. At GM he’s looking at how folksonomies and Wikis to name can be used in business for document management and collaboration.

At first I thought this interview was a straightforward - Oh! another big corporation acknowledges the influence of social media. But Killeen is really looking at how Web2.0 technologies that allow people to engage, share ideas can be used by Businesses to create more fluid work spaces that doesn’t rely on traditional software which creates those rigid structures that can’t keep pace.

I find myself in complete agreement Killeen, some of the technologies use in social media will be a very important part of the new business toolkit.
